    Dear Sister’s in Christ,

A few years ago Kathy Troccoli had a conference called Spaghetti for the Soul. A friend and former neighbor called me and said she had received a group discount and had a ticket for me! She wanted me to come and ride along with her and a group of gals from her church. I was extremely excited and after losing my 3 and a half year old daughter I really needed time away with G & G; God and the Girls!

A few weeks before the conference I had found out that my son had his Pinewood Derby for cub scouts that weekend. I was so bummed. Here is was the one year anniversary of my daughter’s death, my son’s big cub scout event (the son who was so close to my daughter; they were just two years a part in age) and a weekend to spend with friends and of course Jesus. What could I do? I ended up not going to the conference and that year my son won 1st place in the Pinewood Derby. I think my daughter came down from heaven that day and gave him the fastest car!

My friend understood and she knew I was bummed. About a week after the conference I received a package in the mail, it was from her. I opened the package and inside was the DVD series Spaghetti for the Soul! I was shocked! I know purchasing videos can be expensive and here is the thing, my friend has 5 children and a husband who was diagnosed with blood cancer more than 10 years ago. It is only by the grace of God that they have been able to survive. He is still fighting cancer. For her to think of me that day was such a blessing. Of course the video wasn’t of the actual conference she attended but it meant even more receiving it because it was given in love.

II Corinthians 9:6 says this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

My friend gave to me from her heart and how ironic that it’s Kathy Troccoli tickets you are now giving away. I think God set aside a pair of those tickets for her over 3 years ago when she gave to me in love. I’m sure God will show you.

    In Jesus’ Love,

    Kim

My daughters Sheila and Tina have been an inspiration to so many.  Sheila was diagnosed 3 years ago with Inflammatory Breast Cancer while she was 6 months pregnant with her 3rd son. Sheila already had 2 small sons ages 2 and 5. The doctors had given her 6 months to live.  Chemotherapy was started immediately!  Sheila’s son Josh was delivered early, as they wanted to operate to remove the breast area immediately..  So with a child in the nic unit, Sheila underwent surgery, but enforced the rule that she had to sit with her son everyday in the nic unit.  The prayers and love surrounding both her and her son was abundantly clear. Sheila reminded us that God had a plan, and she was going to see that her boys remembered her. Tina gave up every free moment of her life in the last 3 years.  She not only works, but as soon as she is off from work, she drives to Sheila’s home to help her with her 3 boys.  She has been helping to raise the 3 boys and give Sheila every chance to get some rest .  I’ve seen them both frustrated, but never losing their faith in our God.  What a testimony Sheila and Tina have been.  The tune “Sisters” from White Christmas reminds me of them.  Loving, strong, a little bit nutsy, but always steeped in their faith. The Lord has given us 3 years and counting with Sheila still among us.  They are both tired, and never get away.  Just last night at a bible study we were exploring what our purpose for our life is, and Sheila said that she felt that the Lord has given her this time, as she was supposed to be dead according to the doctors standards, and she had just had a car accident on New Year’s Eve, and that apparantly the Lord has other plans for her. Please consider giving her and Tina a time away to worship the Lord.  I know that they would both appreciate it.  In God’s Hands,  Maxine Rhoads

I have a friend of mine who has seven children and her oldest son was killed last year in a motorcycle accident. She has not taken the time to grieve the way she should because she feels she has to be everyone elses strength. I had also lost a friend of mine to cancer last February we could use a break. Thank you!
